SCARPA Ski Boots for 2022-23

From SCARPA’s humble beginnings in northern Italy to their expansive current line of fine-tuned footwear for skiers, climbers, hikers and runners, SCARPA has spent the last 80+ years dedicated to creating innovative and well-crafted mountain footwear. This dedication to innovation continues for the 2022-23 ski season, with the introduction of the new 4-Quattro series of hybrid boots, as well as a new boot in the F1 line, and the most environmentally friendly Maestrale ever.

Alpine AT Boots

Designed in conjunction with ski racing icon Bode Miller, the all-new 4-Quattro ski boots are the lightest ski boots in their class. They are designed to combine power, precision, and sustainability to be the perfect ski boots, both on and off-piste.

All boots in the new 4-Quattro series feature plant-based shells and cuffs that are created from Castor beans to help reduce the amount of carbon released in the production process. The 4-Quattros also feature an incredibly progressive flex that allows the boot to easily absorb small bumps while still providing plenty of pushback when sinking into groomer carves or large compressions in the backcountry. Carbon-infused Grilamid inserts supply torsional stiffness, which makes edge-to-edge transitions snappy and intuitive. Also included on the 4-Quattro series are Speed Lock 4 levers that are easy to work with gloves or mittens on and provide a 61-degree range of motion, allowing long, efficient strides in the backcountry or the parking lot. Combined with GripWalk-norm Presa outsoles, walking in ski boots has never been easier.

Compared to the Maestrale and Gea series of boots, the 4-Quattros have a much lower instep height, closer to that of a traditional overlap boot, while maintaining the progressive flex of a 3-piece boot. This is due to the unique Alpine Axial Hybrid construction that attaches the ladders farther down the medial side of the boot to provide a more adjustable fit and volume that works for most foot shapes. The 4-Quattro series also features a lower stand height than the Maestrale and Gea series, lowering the skier’s center of gravity and providing a more connected feeling to the ski.

4-Quattro XT

The 4-Quattro XT features a Grilamid Bio shell with an additional carbon insert in the cuff to create a stiffer flexing boot with a minimal weight penalty. It also includes an elastic Booster Strap to absorb small bumps while delivering excellent forward power transmission.

4-Quattro SL

The 4-Quattro SL is made instead with a Pebax R-New shell and single carbon insert in the shell to create a high-performing boot in a 120-flex package. It also includes a traditional Finger Strap powerstrap.

Alpine Touring Boots

Headlining the Alpine Touring collection are the tried-and-true Maestrale and Women’s Gea series. The Maestrale and Gea boots are designed for those who prefer to spend their days in the backcountry, but don’t want to sacrifice downhill performance.

New for the 2022-2023 season is the limited-edition Maestrale Re-Made. Constructed from re-processed construction scraps, the Maestrale Re-Made completely eliminates virgin plastic from its production, making it the most sustainable ski boot ever made by SCARPA. To take things even further, the Finger Strap is 100% PVC free and is made from 50% recycled content. Built in the mold of the tried-and-true Maestrale, the Re-Made is designed for the eco-conscious skier who wants a boot that skis as well as it tours.

As part of this limited-edition boot, SCARPA will also be donating all profits from the Maestrale Re-Made to Protect Our Winters.

Designed for those skiing the biggest lines in the backcountry, the Maestrale XT is the stiffest, most powerful boot in the Maestrale lineup. To get more stiffness than the Maestrale RS, the XT has a slimmer yet stiffer upper cuff and a Booster Power strap to enhance power transmission. The stock Zeppa XT footbed also provides a 2-degree steeper ramp angle, putting the skier in a more aggressive position for increased control on steeper, more committing lines. All these combined make the Maestrale XT the perfect boot for skiers riding big lines and needing the ultimate in downhill performance.

The Maestrale RS and Gea RS ski boots provide the perfect blend of backcountry functionality and downhill performance. In order to increase downhill performance over the regular Maestrale and Gea, the RS use a slightly stiffer Grilamid Bio shell and an additional carbon fiber insert in the cuff to create a boot suited for larger or more aggressive skiers in the backcountry.

The F1 ski boots are the standard for lightweight touring and are designed to be stiff, responsive, and comfortable. The Grilamid shell features a carbon insert that goes around the arch to provide stiffness without adding unnecessary weight. An Intuition liner adds comfort and precision to the fit, while the lower Boa system allows the skier to adjust the fit and volume of the boot around the foot.

The lightest boot in the F1 family, the F1 LT borrows features from the tried-and-true Alien race series to create the ultimate boot for high mileage missions where every gram counts. The F1 LT includes a carbon infused Grilamid shell and cuff to shave weight while retaining plenty of skiing power while a 3D Lambda Frame wraps around the shell to increase torsional rigidity for better ski control. The lower Boa System also functions on an exclusive floating frame to dial in fit and is protected by a waterproof gaiter.

Skimo Race

Alright, who wants to go fast? The award-winning, podium-topping Alien series sets the bar for what skimo boots can be. Featuring the innovative Speed Lock Lite lever that only requires a single adjustment before using and loosens the cuff while simultaneously engaging walk mode as you cycle through 4 distinct positions.

The Alien 4.0 is the lightest SCARPA boot available and a perennial podium-topper. Crafted from hand-laid carbon fiber with Pebax inserts in the cuff for a contoured closure and a protective toe cap. Even with clear race intentions, the Alien 4.0 still provides an incredible fit thanks to the Intuition liner and adjustable Boa lower that creates a snug, pressure point free fit.
