2025 SCARPA Climbing Shoes | Product Overview
From SCARPA’s humble beginnings in northern Italy to their expansive current line of fine-tuned footwear for skiers, climbers, hikers and runners, SCARPA has spent the last 80+ years dedicated to creating innovative and well-crafted mountain footwear. This dedication to innovation continues with the announcement of the new SCARPA Boostic R, Drago XT, and Vapor V. These shoes bring phenomenal performance to those who demand the most from their shoes, whether that’s on technical faces, in the gym, or anywhere in-between.
In this blog, we’ll be covering SCARPA’s new climbing shoes for 2025, as well as some of the classic and top-selling lines that make up the core of SCARPA’s line up.
Specialized Performance
Designed for the most technical and demanding climbers, the Specialized Performance line of shoes represent the pinnacle of design and engineering in climbing shoes. Specialized Performance shoes feature the most innovative rubbers as well as the most specific uses.
Drago XT
Drago XT |
---|
Sizes Available: 35-45 (Half Sizes) |
Last: Aggressive, Downturned, and Highly Asymmetric |
Sole Rubber: Vibram XS Grip2 |
Intended Use: Technical Bouldering and Sport Climbing |
Taking everything SCARPA knows about climbing shoe design and expanding the Drago line is no easy feat, but the Drago XT delivers. While still highly asymmetric, the Drago XT features slightly less asymmetry than the existing Drago and Drago LV, giving it a slightly more relaxed fit and upping the versatility of the shoe. While being no means a stiff shoe, it also is the stiffest Drago in the line, which does not decrease it’s exceptional bouldering performance, but merely increases its ability to take that performance outside. The full-coverage rubber heel is also laser etched with texture to provide the ultimate heel hooking ability.
Boostic R
Boostic R |
---|
Sizes Available: 35-45 (Half Sizes) |
Last: Aggressive, Downturned, and Highly Asymmetric |
Sole Rubber: Vibram XS Edge |
Intended Use: Technical Sport Climbing and Multi-Pitch Climbing |
The new Boostic R takes the name ‘Specialized Performance’ to the next level. Compared to the outgoing Boostic, the R has a revised fit profile but still retains it’s high-performance shape. This precise fit combined with the Boostic R’s unmatched stiffness provide sensitivity and grip on the tiniest of holds and edges, making it perfect for the most technical projects.
Performance
The Performance line of climbing shoes are the meat and potatoes of SCARPA’s lineup. Including the best-selling Instinct and Vapor series, the Performance series are the shoes climbers around the world reach for again and again.

Built to be your quiver-of-one climbing shoe, the updated Vapor V and new Vapor LV continue being the go-to shoes for climbers around the world, whether they’re on the World Cup circuit, tackling their next gym project, or top roping their local crag. Updates include a slightly larger toe patch that’s now incorporated as one piece with the toe rand, upping durability. There is also a new tongue material that improves breathability slightly, but now uses recycled fabric to reduce environmental impact. The new Vapor LV shares all of the same features as the Vapor V, just with a lower volume fit that is going to work well for climbers with narrower feet or smaller ankles.
Instinct VSR LV

Intended Use: All-Around |
The new SCARPA Instinct VSR LV adds a new fit option to the legendary Instinct series. Sharing the same feature-set as the Instinct VSR, the LV version provides ultra-sticky rubber in a fit that’s focused on smaller and narrower feet. The Instinct VSR LV has a narrower toe box, lower instep, and a tighter heel than the regular VSR.
Instinct or Vapor?
A question we constantly get asked and has dozens of YouTube videos dedicated to it is “what’s the difference between the Instinct and the Vapor?” It all lies in the fit of the shoes. With two distinct and different fit profiles, the first choice between these lines should be which fits your foot better. After that, choose laces for longer trad climbs or even multipitch, Velcro closures for all-around climbing, and slippers for bouldering.
All-Day Performance
With all-day comfort in mind, the All-Day Performance line still delivers technical shoes capable of climbing demanding routes and extreme boulders. Including everything from multi-pitch specialists to dedicated indoor shoes, the All-Day Performance collection has something for everyone.
